Split-fountain printing is a way of printing multiple colors in a single pass. A screen normally intended to receive a single color of ink is instead carefully loaded with two or more separate colors. These colors then bleed together in the process of printing. Each successive pass of the squeegee dynamically creates continuous ranges of hue transitioning from one to the other of the originally applied color.

The net result of this process is that no two prints in the edition are the same. Over the course of printing the hue, saturation and gradation dynamically change in unpredictable ways. In the examples below we can see how the prints change from print number 1 through print 40. Prints in this edition are sold on a first come first served basis with print number 1 sold to buyer 1 and print number 40 to buyer 40.
